Founding and Early Years (2014-2016)
In 2014, MISSAB began as the Minimally Invasive Spine Surgeons of India (MISSI) in Ahmedabad. The inaugural MISSICON 2014 brought together 150 surgeons to discuss endoscopic discectomy and MIS transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF). By 2015, MISSICON in Mumbai introduced live surgeries, attracting international faculty like Prof. Jean Destandeau (France). These early events laid the foundation for MISSAB’s collaborative ethos.
Growth and Recognition (2017-2019)
MISSICON 2017 in Chennai was a turning point, showcasing nine live surgeries, including endoscopic discectomy and MIS TLIF, to 300 attendees. In 2018, we rebranded as MISSAB, reflecting our mission to serve all of Bharat. The 2019 Vadodara workshop trained 200-surgeons in advanced techniques for lumbar disc herniation and spondylolisthesis, solidifying our reputation.
Resilience and Innovation (2020-2022)
The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted in-person events, but MISSAB adapted with virtual CMEs and webinars, reaching 1.000+ surgeons. MISSABCON 2022 in Pune marked a triumphant return, focusing on navigated spine surgeries and endoscopic approaches, with 400 attendees.
Recent Milestones (2023-2025)
In 2023, MISSAB expanded its fellowship program, training 50+ surgeons. In 2024, we partnered with international organizations like KOMISS to enhance research. The upcoming MISSABCON 2025 in Mumbai will celebrate our 10th year with a landmark symposium
