MISSAB-WESS 2019

The MISSAB 2019 annual conference was conducted in Mohali, Punjab from 1st November to 3rd November 2019 at Hotel Park Plaza, Zirakpur, jointly with the annual conference of World Endoscopic Spine Society (WESS). The theme was “Complications and Learning Curve in MISS”.

 

It was attended by nearly 150 delegates and faculty. International Faculty from South Korea (Dr Sang Kyu Son), USA (Dr Amit Jain), Malaysia (Dr Luthfi Gatam) and Indonesia (Dr Abdul Halim) attended and contributed to the academics. Prof Jean Destandau (France), the pioneer of Endospine technique also shared his 25 years plus experience in Interlaminar Endoscopy. The meeting also had the leading luminaries of the Minimally Invasive Spine Society of Bharat in full attendance.

 

Six live surgeries were live relayed from Trinity Hospital, Zirakpur to the event venue on day 1 demonstrating Destandau Endospine Discectomy, Revision 3D Endospine Discectomy, Microscopic tubular Discectomy , Transforaminal Discectomy, Arthrospine assisted lumbar canal decompression and the technique of Unilateral Biportal Endoscopy (UBE) assisted canal decompression and discectomy for the first time in India.

 

The live surgeries were followed by didactic faculty lectures, panel discussions and deliberations followed by evening gala dinner on day 1. The second day also continued the academics and had e-posters and scientific free papers presented by delegates.

 

The Cadaveric workshop was held on the 3rd and final day at Government Medical College and Hospital, Anatomy Hall, Sector 32, Chandigarh where the delegates were given hands-on training on Endospine, Arthrospine, UBE, Transforaminal Endoscopy, OLIF and percutaneous pedicle screw insertion techniques.
